This item is extremely high quality and heavy duty. This not a cheap knock off or imitation, it was made to look, feel, work, and last just like the original jacket issued to our service members.For matching pants, please see our other listing. Through accident or fate, 1965 saw the birth of what would become arguably the world’s Best military jacket, the M-65 Cold Weather Field Coat. First versions were widely available to U.S. troops sent to Vietnam. But over time the design was endlessly tested, revised, and reproduced among many military branches around the globe. Shell is designed for wear as an outer layer in cold-wet climates, or as an intermediate layer in cold-dry climates. Button-in quilted liner jacket adds warmth when needed. Liner can be worn alone for quick trips outside (like smoke breaks, taking out the trash, or grabbing the mail) and has its own full button-up front.This M-65 Cold Weather Coat was manufactured by Brooklyn Armed Forces to U.S. military specs. It includes the matching button-in liner. And it arrives to your door pristine, in the same condition as the original M-65 designs rolled off the factory floor in the 60’s. And also unlike almost all authentic original versions, this Jacket can be ordered with the matching Trousers (complete with their own button-in liner), see in our store.During and after the Vietnam War, the M-65 Cold Weather Coat and Trousers were introduced by returning troops into the counterculture, and indeed among U.S. civilians in general. It soon became a big hit as an everyday outer layer, not to mention a beefy fashion accessory for loners (see Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver), action heroes (see Rambo), sci-fi characters (see The Terminator), and more.The versatility of the System allows you to wear the Coat, the Trousers, or both across 3 seasons and in a variety of environments and scenarios. Button-in liners can be removed for unlined breathability, or added for deep freeze comfort.Because of its omni-presence and incredible duration in military service, authentic versions of the M-65 Cold Weather Coat and Trousers were widely available during the golden and silver ages of surplus stores.
