A wonderful strike enhances the overall look of this large sized French Crown. This is the largest regular issue silver coin made by France during this period and these coins are very impressive. This one in particular has a super strong strike and is really attractive. The lines visible are adjustment marks and are mint made to reduce the weight when needed to be exactly correct in silver contact prior to striking the coin and they are not relevant to value. He succeeded his great-grandfather, Louis XIV, and his reign saw a mixture of successes and challenges, contributing to the later difficulties faced by his successor, Louis XVI.
