With its analogue octave circuit, this pedal utilizes a transformer and diodes to produce a rich and distinct octave sound. The resistance settings allow for greater presence, ensuring that the octave sound is heard clearly, especially at lower GAIN settings. Even at a GAIN setting of 0, the “Captain Hook sound” is already present, providing a captivating and distorted tone. As you increase the GAIN, the compression becomes stronger, resulting in a one-of-a-kind fuzz-like disintegration feeling. To enhance sustain and achieve a crisp sound, a JFET booster circuit is incorporated into the input section of the pedal. This booster can be used independently, even when the fuzz side is turned off, providing versatility and added functionality. The FIRST switch on this pedal allows you to select the position of the BOOST section, either “before” or “after” the phaze circuit. The boost utilizes our GRAVITY BOMB (BOOST & BUFFER) circuit, adding gain and volume to your sound. When placed before the drive circuit, the boost creates a thicker fuzz sound, while setting it to the back adds volume. For a wider dynamic range, this pedal operates at 18V. However, if you prefer a more traditional sound, we recommend using it at 9V. Additionally, if you want to use the pedal with bass or other instruments, the 18V option is highly recommended.
