A proper fitting Custom Dash Cover will soften the plastic look of a vehicle’s interior and provide protection to the driver and vehicle dashboard. What’s Important in a Custom Dash Cover? A Custom Dash Cover is a very conspicuous accessory it is clearly visible to the driver and front passenger. Therefore, fit and appearance are the most important qualities of a Custom Dash Cover. The fit is a result of the Custom Dash Cover’s pattern design, construction and materials. Modern vehicle dashboards are complex, with subtle curved shapes, trays, cupholders, sensors, airbag cutouts, and other considerations. Most Dash Cover patterns are CAD designed from the original vehicle dashboard using sophisticated software. (Faux) Suede: Made with a 3 layer factory bonded construction: a Suede Upholstery Fabric on top (face), a foam core and a special scrim fabric backing. It is permanently bonded together in a flash oven process that does not use adhesives. It has a very smooth look. Face materials are Solution Dyed Polyester with high UV protection, consistent color and maximum color fastness over time. Edge binding is color matching Velour Fabric. This material choice will provide a soft feel, adjust extremely well to the dash contours and provide a smoother look. Let us know your color choice: These Custom Dash Covers are constructed using a “zigzag” stitch. The zigzag stitch takes more time and is more expensive, but the results are worth the added expense the stitch acts as a hinge, allowing the cover to contour to the surface of the dashboard. More FAQ’s Q: How does the Dashcover fit to the design of my vehicle’s dash? Our manufacturer makes all their own patterns and do it by working directly on each vehicle model including models that have options that effect the dash. Our design philosophy is to fit the dash geometry with the best look possible and make sure the coverage is proper for a rich look. Design is part science and part art. We take into account for all the vents, sensors, gauges, displays, options like larger screens for NAV’s, etc. We do not design our patterns to cut corners on material or labor. We strive to make the best looking, best fitting dashcover for each vehicle. When looking at the pictures, remember that they are on a flat surface and not on the complicated geometry of a dash. Q: What about AirBags – will the dash cover have a cutout, do I need a cutout, can I specify not to have an airbag cutout? Starting in the early 1990’s and depending on your Make/Model and option package, your vehicle may have an Airbag built into the dash on the Passenger side. Many vehicle have a visible Airbag panel. In more recent vehicles, you may not be able to tell exactly where the Airbag is placed because there is no visible panel. When they first arrived on the scene it was thought that dash covers needed to have a cut out for the airbag to deploy if there is a great distance between the edge of the dashcover and the Airbag panel. Many of our patterns have such a cutout. But many patterns do not because the panel is either close to the edge or there is no visible panel. We see a few requests to not make the airbag flap cut because some people prefer the look without it. The Airbag will definately deploy whether or not there is a cutout. Q: What about Speakers in the Dash? We do not make cutouts for speakers. We feel this would defeat the purpose of the dashcover to protect the dash. Sound will travel through the dashcover material quite well so no cutout is needed. Trust us on this – leave them covered. Q: What if my vehicle has sensors on the dash for Automatic Headlights or Automatic Climate Control? Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners hook strips come with each dash cover. They have an adhesive backing. With all Carpet colors, we sew in many small squares of Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners loop because the hook does not stick well the the back side of the carpet. With all fabric Dash Covers that have foam in the middle layer, the back side fabric acts like Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners Loop so no small loop squares are sew in. Just stick the hook anywhere. Also, the forward edge of the Dash Cover may need to be tucked into the space between the dash and windshield glass. This anchors the Dash Cover and holds it in place even with the defrost fan on max. Using the supplied Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners is optional. Some people prefer not to use it. Some dashes have complicated geometry and a dash cover will not stay without it. We provide it – you decide if you want to use it. The adhesive will not harm your dash. However, it may not stick properly if your dash has been treated with a detailing product like Armor All. Use cleaning alcohol to clean areas of your dash where you want Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners.
