Askina Calgitrol paste, 15 g wounds treatment with silver ion DESCRIPTION Askina Calgitrol paste, 15 g Askina Calgitrol paste is a sterile dressing material, which contains a silver ion alginate matrix in the form of a paste, which provides antimicrobial effects and protects against external bacterial contamination. In exuding wounds, silver alginate paste maintains a moist environment that promotes natural healing conditions. Use: Askina Calgitrol Paste is very easy to apply and does not require any special skills or equipment. The contents of one package are intended for use by one patient only. Askina Calgitrol can be used for 7 days after opening. 1. Skin preparation Clean the wound with sterile saline solution (0.9%) or a suitable cleaning solution, and with sterile swabs, then dry the skin around the wound. 2. Applying the dressing material Askina Calgitrol paste 15g/100g tube Shake the tube before use, then (i) remove the tube from the outer protective film and (ii) remove the cap. Apply the paste in a thick layer over the entire surface of the wound and apply the size of the secondary dressing to the amount of exudate. 3. Dressing removal / change (i) Remove the secondary dressing, (ii) carefully flush the wound with sterile saline (0.9%) (iii) and continue to clean the wound thoroughly to remove any remnants of Askina Calgitrol paste. Follow procedure (i) to (iii) to apply a new dressing. Askina Calgitrol paste should be changed each time the dressings are changed (once a day or at least once every 3 days, depending on the condition of the wound) or if exudate oozes through the additional dressing .
